Class B roundup: FW-M edges Cards in D7 final
The Carrington Cardinals got off to a bit of a slow start, and they were never able to fully recover during the championship game of the District 7 tournament at the Devils Lake Sports Center on Tuesday night. Four Winds/Minnewaukan’s Collin Delorme (14 points) and Austin Longie (11) led 9 players in scoring, as the Indians won the District 7 crown with a 54-51 victory over the Cardinals.

Nokota horse supporters turn to Legislature
North Dakota’s honorary horse breed doesn’t get the respect supporters believe it’s due in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. They’ve turned to the North Dakota Legislature to send a message to the National Park Service to work to preserve the Nokota horse breed, which traces its lineage to Indian ponies and early ranch stock in the Badlands. “It’s a question of doing a right thing,” said Frank Kuntz of the Nokota Horse Conservancy in Linton. “These horses have a wonderful history and they deserve that recognition.”

Edna Maier, 95, formerly of Streeter, ND died Sunday evening February 17, 2013 at the Napoleon Care Center in Napoleon, ND. Edna Schnaidt was born January 3, 1918 at Napoleon, ND, the daughter of John and Christina (Kranzler) Schnaidt. She moved to Temvik, ND when she was 2 years old. In 1925 she moved to Napoleon to live with her grandparents, Christina and Philip Werth. She received her elementary education at the local rural school.

Braun 1 win away: LaMoure’s Shockman reaches final
Zane Braun faced his own style in the semifinals of the Class A state wrestling tournament on Friday at the Fargodome. Jamestown’s 152-pound senior took care of business, pinning Mandan’s Adam Stein in 2 minutes, 37 seconds to advance to the finals for the second straight year. He also moved into second place all-time on Jamestown High’s career wins list, passing Nick Olson’s 128.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation along with the North Dakota Highway Patrol have closed Interstate 94 from Jamestown to Fargo, and Interstate 29 from Fargo to Grand Forks due to heavy snow, blowing snow and areas of near zero visibility creating hazardous driving conditions.
