Zealotry in government only leads to bad laws
In recent weeks, the North Dakota Legislature has seen too much lawmaking for a cause and not enough lawmaking for the state. Case in point: The so-called “Grande amendment” to Senate Bill 2368, mercifully stripped out of the bill by a conference committee.

Oil has changed N.D.’s economic profile
The economic benefits of oil and gas production were made clear in a recent North Dakota State University study. It pegged oil’s economic impact on North Dakota at $30.4 billion in 2011. The record setting pace of increased production last year suggests the impact in 2012 was even greater. And, for every dollar spent by the oil and gas industry in the state, another $1.59 in additional business activity was generated. It’s the kind of narrative you can take to the bank.
