Heavy snow brought slippery roads, low visibility and power outages to the northern Red River Valley Thursday morning. The Minnesota State Patrol blamed the near-blizzard conditions for the head-on collision that killed a woman in the Thief River Falls area. Residents in various parts of the valley lost power for several hours early in the morning.

Woodworth area has power outages
Northern Plains Electric Cooperative crews were called out at 2:30 a.m. Thursday as high winds and snow swept the Woodworth, N.D., area, downing 21 poles and causing power outages to 30 Northern Plains members. Crews were called in from Woodworth-Robinson, Cando, Carrington, Jamestown, Maddock and Rugby. By mid afternoon Thursday, they had restored power to all but 13 members.
