Letter to the editor: Abortion decisions should not be political issue
I am so fortunate that, during my child-bearing years, I had complete control over my body, and Planned Parenthood was available to me. I feel sorry for women nowadays because they are the target of Republicans wanting to control them, keep them underpaid and in poverty and infringing on the unalienable Rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

There are some issues that really disturb me. I have never had to decide abortion or no abortion; since I am a great-grandmother, I’ll never make that choice.

Letter to the editor: Legislature right to pass bills to block abortions
We applaud our North Dakota Legislature for passing some of the most pro-woman and pro-life health laws in our nation with the intent to uphold the sanctity of human life in our great state. For all the criticism these bills have received from the secular media and pro-abortion supporters, these sources have failed to respond to the one question that defines why the good people of North Dakota are pursuing this type of legislation.

Letter to the editor: ‘Personhood’ bill is intrusion by government into health
I’ve never been more confused; what does the North Dakota Republican Party stand for? I understood Republicans believed in less government involvement, personal responsibility, fiscal restraint to leave more money in the people’s pocket. I get that, but here are just a few examples Republican legislators don’t.

Cost of defending the abortion laws could add up quickly
Gov. Jack Dalrymple’s signature on what would be among the strictest abortion laws in the country could cost the state hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars defending the laws in court. Activists favoring legalized abortion say the pending laws in North Dakota would likely put the state into a lawsuit, arguing that they violate the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, which ruled that abortions are legal up until the point of viability outside the womb, or about 24 weeks.
