No stars, but good players available
Most of the big names hitting free agency aren’t big stars anymore. Sure, Ed Reed is coming off helping a Super Bowl season with Baltimore, Wes Welker catches 100 passes every year, and Dashon Goldson is an All-Pro. But this crop is more about aging defensive players such as Charles Woodson, Brian Urlacher and Ronde Barber. And then are some solid but hardly unforgettable receivers and running backs: Greg Jennings, Mike Wallace, Reggie Bush and Michael Turner.

Get ready for the feeding frenzy. NFL free agency is coming. On Tuesday, with all 32 teams under the $123 million salary cap, the checkbooks open up. Some clubs, most notably Green Bay and Pittsburgh, barely will participate, while likely letting top receivers Greg Jennings and Mike Wallace leave for huge paydays elsewhere.

Letter to the editor: Legislature has too much money at its disposal
I don’t know about the rest of you, but whenever there is a super majority in the North Dakota Legislature the atmosphere and basic philosophies go right down the toilet. Examples would be the House approval to buy a skiing lodge and speeding charges based on another state’s fines. In the Senate we seem to have an ongoing or continuing resolution just in case we have to buy out the higher ed chancellor. But it’s just with the funny money from the taxpayer.
