Rotarian Marty Richman introduced Rebecca Ternes, deputy commissioner at the North Dakota Insurance Department, at last week’s Rotary meeting. Ternes has been in this position since November 2005 and is responsible for managing 45 staff with a budget of about $14 million.August 24, 2010
Cruff speaks at Kiwanis
Si Liechty introduced Brad Cruff, Barnes County state’s attorney, to speak at the Aug. 16 Kiwanis noon luncheon meeting at the Lantern Room. Cruff was raised on the family farm and ranch at rural Rogers, N.D. He graduated from Barnes County North and then Valley City State University, and obtained his law degree from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.August 24, 2010
Leyendecker given auxiliary award 
Carol Koosmann led the August program at the Jamestown Hospital Auxiliary during which Celine Leyendecker was presented a lifetime membership in the auxiliary along with a rose and certificate recognizing her 20 years of volunteer service. Koosman’s inspirational message reminded members that all of them are gifts and as volunteers they are special gifts to those they serve.

Montpelier OK plays games, serves lunch 
The Montpelier OK Club met on Aug. 3 with 14 present. The pledge was said and the meeting was held. Jan Van Brugger, Harold Ratts and Maxine Toltzman had readings. Secretary and treasurer’s reports were approved. There was no old or new business.
