Quilt ‘til You Drop! set at heritage center
Quilters or quilt fans can take in an entire day of individual and family activities for young and old alike on Saturday, March 20, commemorating National Quilters’ Day. The Quilt ‘til You Drop! events will take place at the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. All events — except the quilting classes — are free and open to the public. They are sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota and the Capital Quilters of Bismarck in recognition of National Quilters’ Day.March 11, 2010

Cooperstown missile site open to visitors
Beginning March 1, visitor hours changed at the new Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site near Cooperstown. From March 1 through Saturday, May 15, it will be open to the public Mondays and Thursdays-Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. Central Time. It will be closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays during this time. The site opened its doors to the public July 13, 2009.March 04, 2010

Cold War Film Contest set 
The Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site near Cooperstown and the Friends of Oscar-Zero announce the “Cold War Film Contest.” Between Sept. 15, 2010, and Feb. 28, 2011, selected independent film crews will be allowed special access to the Oscar-Zero Missile Alert Facility. The contest will require regional, independent filmmakers to use the historic, underground missile alert facility as a background for independently produced short-length films.

The rooms of the Former Governors’ Mansion State Historic Site on Fourth Street in Bismarck again resounded with “old tyme fiddle music” as 11 violin students competed in the Third Annual Arthur A. Link Fiddling Contest Sunday.

Cross Ranch holding winter festival 
The Cross Ranch State Park Winter Festival is from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
Blaze a own trail snowshoeing or glide along the park’s groomed ski trails. There will be other activities as well, such as a horse-drawn sled/wagon ride around the park and programs inside the River Peoples Visitor Center including “Nature CSI: Who Dunnit?” and “Winter Animals.”

Borden speaking on vexillology in VC 
The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series will present the Rev. Carl Borden presenting “Vexillology! What On Earth Is Vexillology?” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum
Vexillology is the study of flags. Borden has a family history that is mixed, diverse and ancient and for him finding the symbols (standards, banners, flags) representing the nations and places of the family made a lot of sense.

History symposium set in VC 
The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame has again joined forces with the North Dakota Hu-manities Council, Reiten Television and the North Dakota KX Television Network to produce a series of winter history and entertainment gatherings across the state in February and March.
