Sport and Rec Show opens today 
The annual Outdoor Sport and Recreation Show is at the Civic Center this weekend, from today through Sunday.
All things outdoors will be on display including campers, boats, pontoons, watercraft, golf carts, motorcycles and much more, said Lynn Lambrecht, sales manager at Ingstad Family Media. Ingstad is holding the event for the third year.

Fargo author publishes poetry 
“This Grass,” a book of poems by poet Jamie Parsley and paintings by artist Gin Templeton, was recently published by Enso Press of Fargo.
Parsley, the author of eight previous books of poems, was named an associate poet laureate of North Dakota in 2004 by the state’s current Poet Laureate Larry Woiwode. He is also an Episcopal priest, serving at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Fargo and in the North Dakota Episcopal Diocese.

Planetarium show Saturday at VCSU 
Valley City State University Planetarium’s December public show, “The Zodiac,” will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday.
“The Zodiac” is a fun look at the stories surrounding the 12 zodiacal constellations that fall along the ecliptic plane over the course of the year. These ancient signs have been associated with astrology and are directly related to the early vestiges of astronomy. This program, suitable for all ages, examines these constellations and the stories of ancient gods and heroes associated with them.
