JC hosting Land recital March 18

The Jamestown College Department of Music is hosting a recital by pianist Michael Land at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 18, in the Reiland Fine Arts Center’s DeNault Auditorium. The recital is free and open to the public. The program will include Beethoven’s Variations in C minor, Schumann’s Fantasiestucke, Lizst’s Consolation No. 3 in D-flat Major, and Piazzolla’s Tango Suite.

Rock band ends series

Rock band ends series To conclude the 2010 Performing Arts Series at Jamestown College, Post-Traumatic Funk Syndrome takes the stage with “The Best of Classic Rock” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 27, in the Reiland Fine Arts Center’s DeNault Auditorium. The 12-piece Fargo-based band includes horns, keyboards, bass, drums, guitar, and male and female vocals. The Jamestown College Jazz Band will also perform.

JMS students chosen for All State Band

JMS students chosen for    All State Band Hunter Carpenter, Brittany Cuffe, Alex Igl, and Brianna Johnson have been chosen to perform with the North Dakota Junior High All-State Band. Carpenter is a percussionist with the JMS 7th Grade Band. Cuffe plays bass clarinet in the JMS 8th Grade Band. Igl is a trombonist in the 8th Grade Band, and Johnson plays flute in the JMS 8th Grade Band. Each of these students are JMS Band section leaders.

JC Choir leaving for tour of performances

The Jamestown College Choir, one of the oldest touring choirs in the Midwest, will perform on its regional tour throughout North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota during spring break.

State Fair featuring big names PressPass

Big names and a brand new grandstand will headline the 45th annual North Dakota State Fair. Brooks and Dunn, Eric Church ft. The Band Perry, Darius Rucker and Sugarland will all be included on the 2010 Grandstand Showpass. Showpass tickets will go on sale at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 24.

Heritage Center features Elvis impersonator PressPass

Free tickets will be available beginning Monday, March 1, for the Sensational Sundays performances featuring Elvis Presley impersonator Bill Schott and Neil Diamond impersonator Tim Persell in two separate shows March 14 at the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck. The performances are sponsored by the state’s history agency, the State Historical Society of North Dakota, as part of its Sensational Sundays programming.

Top college musicians to play at JC PressPass

The Jamestown College Department of Music is hosting the state’s top college instrumentalists for the ninth annual North Dakota Intercollegiate Band Friday and Saturday. The event will culminate with a concert at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the Reiland Fine Arts Center’s DeNault Auditorium featuring the Intercollegiate Band with guest conductor Timothy Mahr and a special guest group, the Bismarck-Mandan Wind Ensemble and conductor William J. Schmidt. The concert is free and open to the public.
