2nd ACT play a farce
The third production staged by the Arts Center’s community theater program 2nd ACT is described not as a comedy, but as a farce.
The play is called “Drinking Habits” and it’s set to amuse dinner theater audiences Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 23-25, at the Arts Center.
“This is a farce which takes place in a convent,” said Lori Dorr, its director.

Music festival honoring Westin set for Sept. 5
A music festival will be held in Medora on Sunday, Sept. 5, to honor the late Wade Westin. Westin was well-known Medora Musical cast member. He was the marketing director for the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation when he died suddenly in February 2009.August 26, 2010
Play ‘Grace & Glorie’ slated for September 
The newly formed James River Theatre Arts group will perform “Grace & Glorie,” a play by Tom Ziegler, in September to benefit the restoration of the historic concessions building at Memorial Park in Grand Rapids, N.D. Produced and directed by Christine Ward-Hatton, and featuring Liz Stroh, the play will be presented in downtown Grand Rapids directly across the street from the Granny Bar.

Theatre preparing ‘Beast’ of a show
The LaMoure County Summer Musical Theatre in Grand Rapids has been bustling with preparations for the upcoming production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” Sets are being painted, costumes are getting sewed, lights and microphones are being tested, lines are getting memorized, and dance numbers are being rehearsed.

Laff-a-Thon set at All-vets
Christopher Cannon spent years building a career as a standup comedian and while he’s still doing comedy he’s making people laugh for a purpose.
“Once the wars (in Iraq and Afghanistan) broke out, the weekly thing (performing) wasn’t doing it for me anymore,” Cannon said. “It just wasn’t fulfilling. I wanted to go in a direction that had an impact.”

Students performing ‘Aida’
The Jamestown Ad-vanced Theatre Arts Program will present Disney’s Broadway production “Aida.”
The musical “Aida” will be on stage at the Jamestown High School Theater today and Friday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and senior citizens and $7 for adults.
