New Hope named to Home Mission
On Aug. 17, the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations, Plymouth, Minn., announced it had three assemblies vote to request official Home Mission status be granted to them: New Hope Lutheran, Jamestown, Hope Church in Enderlin, N.D., and the Fellowship Hastings, Hastings, Minn.August 27, 2010

Bluegrass festival set at Atonement

St. John’s Lutheran Church will support students and teachers with a blessing of students, backpacks and teachers celebration at the 9 and 11 a.m. worship services Sunday. All students are invited to come with their backpacks, school bags or any kind of student bag. The blessing of the backpacks will include students, parents and other caregivers to be present for recognition and for prayers. All teachers are also invited to attend where those present will pray for God’s blessing upon them as they prepare another year of lesson plans, assignments, test writing and paper grading.August 20, 2010
First Assembly plans school picnic
First Assembly of God is hosting its annual Sunday school picnic at McElroy Park on Sunday with an outdoor service with a musical program by Prairie Rose and the Sidekicks. The service begins at 10:30 a.m. Following the concert a free meal will be served to all those who attend. There will also be games for children. A freewill offering will be received for the concert. Organic farming to be discussed
A national leader in organic agriculture, Fred Kirschenmann, will be discussing “Faith and Sustainability” at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Zion United Church of Christ of Medina. The event is being co-sponsored by the Foundation for Agricultural & Rural Resource Management & Sustainability as one of its FARRMS Forums.
