Erickson guest speaker at retreat

The Rev. Ron Erickson is the guest speaker at a men’s retreat hosted by Victory Lutheran Church on March 13-14. He will speak to the men from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Erickson will then speak to both men and women during the Sunday school hour at 9:30 a.m. His topics include: The Life of Bondage! What does it mean to live under the rule of the law? The Life in the Spirit! What does it mean to be free in Christ? and The Life Worth Living! What does freedom look like in the home?

Grace celebrates St. Patrick Sunday

Grace Episcopal Church will be offering a special service and celebration of Saint Patrick at 5 p.m. Sunday. Also planned are Irish face painting for children at 4:30 p.m. and Irish food, music, and Irish step dancing lessons afterward. Victory school holds open house

Victory school holds open house An open house was held recently at Victory Christian School. Volunteers at the event included Victory School Board members Barb Hopewell and Shannon Henderson along with Mya Henderson, former student and volunteer. Families toured the classrooms, met the staff and participated in an interactive learning center.

Jantzer speaking to Tabernacle Society

Jantzer speaking to Tabernacle Society Sister Michaeleen Jantzer, OSB, a nun for more than 60 years, will speak at the St. James Tabernacle Society meeting Monday. She will explain serving God’s people through consecrating one’s life through religious orders. At a minimum these people choose to take lives of poverty, chastity and obedience. It is a radical lifestyle and Jantzer will explain why people feel called to specific religious orders such as Missionaries of Charity, Poor Clares, and teaching orders such as Benedictines.

Phoenix at odds with church feeding needy

On Saturday mornings, crowds of homeless gather with other needy people at picnic tables outside a church in an upscale Phoenix neighborhood, listen to sermons and settle in for sausage, pancakes and scrambled eggs. The pastor said it’s the Lord’s work. Neighbors say it should be done elsewhere.

Leaders of Lutheran CORE released a proposal for the reconfiguration of Lutheranism in North America on Feb. 18. The proposal calls for the continuation of Lutheran CORE as “a community of confessing Lutherans” and for the formation of the North American Lutheran Church, a new Lutheran church body.

I just found this item (LINK HERE) through FARK.com, but I'm posting it here because it's really worth reading. It's a Q&A for religious leaders for dealing with the news media, but it really could be helpful to anyone who has to talk to a reporter. Oh, and here's the comments thread
