Travel records mean little in isolation 
Legislators’ travel always makes a tempting target, so much so that it’s a favorite issue for challengers to raise in election campaigns.

Update: Hazmat spill detours traffic, I-94 eastbound lane closed from Medina to Jamestown
The Medina Rural Fire Department is detouring eastbound traffic on Interstate 94 near mile marker 232 according to police band scanner reports. Law enforcement and fire department personnel were rerouting traffic to Old Highway 10 around the area of a hazardous material spill incident.July 23, 2010

Boardings increase at airport 
Jamestown Regional Airport saw a 23 percent increase in boardings this past march compared to one year ago, according to the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission. The passenger count for March, 2010 was 282 up from 230 in March 2009. The 2010 boardings were the highest recorded in March this decade.

Fee-weary travelers get a break — for now 
U.S. airlines never met a fee they didn’t like. Until now, it seems.
Five major carriers on Sunday agreed not to follow the lead of a small Florida airline that plans to charge for carryon bags. Their commitment comes just in time to keep travelers from running for the exits during the peak summer flying season, but it is doubtful that it marks a change in strategy.

Ash halts flights 
An enormous ash cloud from a remote Icelandic volcano caused the biggest flight disruption since the 2001 terrorist attacks as it drifted over northern Europe and stranded travelers on six continents.
