Never to early to look ahead
A new year of fishing started recently. The 2012 fishing season is under way. So far it’s been kind of a strange ice-fishing season. Ice conditions have been erratic throughout ice country. There has been lots of talk about a lack of ice, but in reality there are lots of places to go ice-fishing, and the action has been very good in many places. In fact, lots of anglers who have been on the ice declare this to be one of their best ice-fishing seasons ever.By By Bob Jensen, Fishing the Midwest , February 03, 2012

Tips for finicky fish while ice-fishing
When you’re ice-fishing, just like when you’re open water fishing, there are days when the fish get finicky. They might be finicky due to weather conditions, or it could be fishing pressure that has them closed-mouthed. Whatever the reason, just like in open water, there are some things you can do to get fish under the ice to bite even when they don’t want to. Tips for open water ice-fishing trips
In many areas of the Midwest this winter, there has been as much open water fishing going on as there has been ice-fishing.
In a region where ice-fishing usually dominates in December and January, warmer than ordinary air temperature have enabled anglers to extend their open water fishing. There are obvious differences in ice-fishing and open water fishing, but when it comes to lure presentation, there are a good number of similarities. Let’s look at some of those similarities.

Plenty to talk about during the meeting season
While many hunters and anglers associate spring and summer with fishing season and fall with hunting season, truth be told, in North Dakota fishing is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days each year.
And while hunting is generally considered a fall season, with small game and archery deer open into January, along with spring turkey and snow goose conservation hunts, and an early resident Canada goose season that starts in mid-August, hunting’s off season is shorter than it once was.
