IUPUI defeats North Dakota State PressPass

Alex Young scored 23 points and IUPUI defeated North Dakota State, 66-52, in Summit League play on Thursday night. Young hit on 10 of 14 shots. Robert Glenn earned his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Leroy Nobles and John Ashworth both scored 10 points for the Jaguars (21-9, 14-3).

North Dakota State star Whitney Carlson continues to set the Summit League on fire. The Buchanan native has been named the conference’s athlete of the week for the third time already this season, the most of any track and field athlete in the Summit League.

Area North Dakota students were among the 689 students to graduate from North Dakota State University in fall 2009. Students are listed by hometown. The list includes their major and degree received. An asterisk indicates students who graduated with honors.

Bison likely getting new radio home PressPass

Forum Communications Company, prompted by ongoing negotiations between North Dakota State and Radio Fargo Moorhead, notified the NDSU athletic department Tuesday that it is pulling its proposed radio deal off the table. It most likely ends 27 consecutive years Bison athletics has been on WDAY-AM. In all, WDAY has had the contract 43 of the past 46 years.

Gebhart, Bison ready to make signing official PressPass

North Dakota State recruit Trevor Gebhart and a few of his football-playing friends will gather this morning for a signing day event in Sioux Falls, S.D. It will officially end a process that began as a high school freshman at Washington High School when the University of Iowa sent him a recruiting letter.

Oral Roberts rolls past NDSU PressPass

Michael Craion scored 14 of his game-high 20 points in the second half to help Oral Roberts break open a close game and roll to a 71-57 victory over North Dakota State on Thursday night. Craion, a 6-foot-5 junior who averages 13 points, was 8-of-10 from the field and had six rebounds in 26 minutes. Dominique Morrison added 16 points and seven rebounds for the Golden Eagles (12-10, 7-3 Summit), who swept the two-game season series with the Bison (7-13, 4-6).

NDSU hiring freeze expected to be lifted PressPass

President Dick Hanson said Tuesday he expects to lift a partial hiring freeze at North Dakota State University on Feb. 4. Hanson made the announcement during an open forum with NDSU faculty, staff and students. In mid-December, Hanson put a freeze on hiring 75 percent of open positions to deal with a budget shortfall that has now reached $2.5 million.

North Dakota State has promoted Scottie Hazelton to defensive coordinator. Hazelton has been the Bison’s defensive line coach since 2007 and also served as an assistant at the school in 2000-01 under former coach Bob Babich, where he mentored under current Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Casey Bradley.
