FARGO — It’s been 17 games since North Dakota State left a football field with a win that had significance in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision landscape. The Bison won’t have to wait long to correct that. They’ll have opportunities in the first two weeks of the season to register a confidence-builder, the type of victory that carries swagger in a top 25 FCS poll. UND-NDSU contest in discussion 
It’s much earlier than usual, but North Dakota State has completed its football schedule for 2011 with the addition of Lafayette College (Pa.).
The Patriot League team will come to the Fargodome for a Sept. 3 nonconference game giving NDSU its maximum 11 games for the season. The Bison follow that with a home game against Georgia Southern two weeks later and then travel to the University of Minnesota.

Humber finds niche with Colts
It’s one thing to make the Indianapolis Colts roster as a rookie free agent. It’s another to lead them in a rather major category: special teams tackles.

Bresciani begins at NDSU
FARGO — Dean Bresciani aims to show that he’s not all talk.
Bresciani, who began Tuesday as North Dakota State University’s 14th president, spent his first day meeting with students, faculty and staff.
Bresciani, who spent some time on campus Monday, said he believes shared governance involves hearing from all of the constituent groups.

Carlson an All-American after all
Whitney Carlson did not need All-American honors to cement the fact that she’s had a great season.
Anyone who pays attention already knows that.
The Buchanan native set record after record for the NDSU track and field team, leading the Bison to their third straight Summit League championship. In the process, she won three individual titles and qualified for the NCAA championship.

Whitney Carlson closed out the Summit League season with another sweep.
The NDSU junior standout won the long jump and both hurdle races as the Bison won the team title for the third straight year.

Carlson named Summit athlete of the month
North Dakota State’s Whitney Carlson has been named the Summit League Women’s Athlete of the month after setting two records in April.
Carlson, a junior from Buchanan, broke the school record in the heptathlon (5,343) at the Mt. SAC/Cal Invitational Combined Events in April 15.
