No-huddle working nicely for UND
GRAND FORKS — The no-huddle offense is no problem for the University of North Dakota. A new federal law recently enacted will provide more law enforcement officers, prosecutors and flexibility in dealing with jurisdictions for Standing Rock and other reservations. It sounds good. UND-NDSU contest in discussion 
It’s much earlier than usual, but North Dakota State has completed its football schedule for 2011 with the addition of Lafayette College (Pa.).
The Patriot League team will come to the Fargodome for a Sept. 3 nonconference game giving NDSU its maximum 11 games for the season. The Bison follow that with a home game against Georgia Southern two weeks later and then travel to the University of Minnesota.

UND women to feature five olympians 
GRAND FORKS — It hasn’t taken long for Peter Elander’s Swedish connections to benefit the University of North Dakota women’s hockey team.
This summer, the Sioux have received four verbal commitments from European standouts that play in the women’s Swedish Elite League.

UND set to tackle tough schedule 
GRAND FORKS (AP) — North Dakota football players said at Monday’s media day they are excited about the challenges they’ll face this fall.
UND, in its third season under head coach Chris Mussman, is still making the transition to full NCAA Division I FCS status. The Fighting Sioux finished last season 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the Great West Conference.
Mussman said he can see the progress his team is making as he watches drills at practice.

UND hockey roster taking shape 
A couple of UND men’s hockey players could see playing time at a new position this season.
The school posted the 2010-11 roster Wednesday, and it listed sophomores Joe Gleason and Ryan Hill as forwards/defensemen.

GRAND FORKS (AP) — A California hockey standout has chosen to play for the University of North Dakota.
Rocco Grimaldi also had been considering Denver and Notre Dame. He alerted UND coaching staff of his decision through an e-mail with a picture of him wearing a Fighting Sioux jersey.

Brian Faison has spent as many full years as UND’s athletic director as he has signed contract extensions.
After recently completing his second year as athletic director, Faison has agreed to another deal.

Jonathan Toews’(tayvs) college coach isn’t surprised that the 22-year-old captain of the Chicago Blackhawks was named playoff MVP after the team wrapped up the Stanley Cup title.
University of North Dakota head coach Dave Hakstol says Toews is a winner who is tough to bet against.
