Nelson holds on
Somebody was looking out for Valley City’s Luke Nelson at Jamestown Speedway on Saturday night.
Going for back-to-back points championships, Nelson was clinging to just a two-point advantage over Carrington’s Rusty Kollman in the standings after Kollman and Nelson finished 1-2, respectively, in the first of three WISSOTA Street Stock heat races earlier in the evening.

Eberhardt gets a win
Nearly three years.
That’s how long Jamestown’s Josh Eberhardt had to wait between feature victories at his home track.
Eberhardt started Saturday’s WISSOTA Midwest Modified 20-lap feature at Jamestown Speedway from the sixth starting position and powered underneath LaMoure’s Taylor Weight coming out of turn No. 4 for the lead with seven laps remaining, winning at the speedway for the first time since taking the checkers at the Stock Car Stampede in September of 2007.

Cousins battle on the track, lend a hand off
The opening lap of last Saturday’s Bomber feature at Jamestown Speedway is a little fuzzy for Jamestown’s Corey Jacobson to remember.
It isn’t hard to imagine why. Jacobson’s night ended with a trip to the hospital to receive X-rays on his back after violently rolling his car at the entrance of turn three while juggling for position near the back of the 19-car field.

Valley Racing Group has new manager
Valley Racing Group — which operates the Red River Valley Speedway — has a new track operations manager.
Ivan Sailer decided to leave the group last week, calling the move a mutual decision between him and Danny Schatz, who heads the Valley Racing Group.
“It just didn’t work out,” said Sailer, who runs his own business in Bismarck. “You have that when you have new companies that start up. …. We made an agreement that when this thing got to a point where it affected our friendship we would split.
