Big blow for JC: Knee injury sidelines Jimmies’ Schuneman

Big blow for JC: Knee injury sidelines Jimmies’ Schuneman Greg Ulland’s first year as the head women’s basketball coach at his alma mater was already going to be challenging. Six of the top seven scorers from last season’s 27-win team graduated, leaving point guard Kellie Schuneman as the only starter back. Unfortunately for both, Ulland’s job recently got harder. While playing summer league basketball in Minneapolis earlier this month, Schuneman suffered a major knee injury, which required surgery on Wednesday in Bloomington, Minn. As a result, the 5-foot-5 point guard will be out for the season, although she will return for the 2011-12 season. Not surprisingly she already has begun the grueling 6-9 month rehab process.
