LaMoure takes down Lisbon

The LaMoure Loboes swept past the Lisbon Broncos in Class B volleyball action on Tuesday night in LaMoure 25-21, 25-12, 25-20. LaMoure’s Erika Armitage, Courtney Klever, Sarah Holen and Katelyn Wendel teamed up to produce 19 kills for the Loboes in the match. Halie Gentzkow produced 13 digs for the team.

Kidder County topples Tri-County

Jordan Leier ran for 166 yards and two touchdowns as Kidder County opened its 9-man season Tuesday night with a 36-20 win over Tri County in Steele. Cody Wahl also had a big opener, churning out 122 yards with a pair of touchdowns for the Region 1 Pirates, facing a team out of Region 4.

Allmer ranked No. 2 in coaches poll PressPass

Jamestown’s Alison Allmer is ranked No. 2 in the latest North Dakota High School Coaches Cross Country Poll announced Thursday. The sophomore runner is coming off a freshman campaign where she finished fourth at the state meet in Valley City. The only Class A runner to be voted higher than Allmer is last year’s state champion Tarin Lachowitzer, who will be running for the Fargo Davies this season.

NDHSAA won’t be cutting Class B wrestling weight PressPass

VALLEY CITY — North Dakota Class B wrestling won’t be cutting weight next season. North Dakota High School Activities Association Assistant to the Executive Secretary Matt Fetsch said Thursday that the state’s wrestling coaches advisory committee has asked the Board to delay its request to drop to 12 weight classes for at least a year. “The rationale was that eliminating any two weight classes would create too big of a gap (for wrestlers),” Fetsch said at the NDHSAA Board meeting.

LaMoure to face familiar challenge PressPass

GRAFTON — LaMoure is defending North Dakota Class B American Legion baseball state champion and has won two of the last three state titles. In 2007, it had to come through the loser-out bracket to win; it faces the same challenge after a second-round loss to Grafton. Grafton handed LaMoure a 6-2 setback here Thursday in the winners’ bracket second round Thursday at the state tournament.

Gaige Dunn, Brett Hample and Cole Gentzkow of LaMoure have been selected to play in the 6th annual North Dakota East-West American Legion Class B All-Star Game on Sunday at Veteran’s Memorial Field in Mayville. J.R. Thielges of LaMoure will coach the East team, which also features area players Derek Jones of Lisbon, Linton’s Kelsey Larson and Justin Rott of Edgeley, plus Dillon Wadeson and Zac Laut of Enderlin.
