Loboes ride magical run to region title tilt

Loboes ride magical run to region title tilt Someone should check the clocks in LaMoure because they obviously don’t strike midnight as this Cinderella team from Loboeland refuses to meet its conclusion. The fourth-seeded Loboes continued their tear through the Region 3 tournament with a 50-49 win over Strasburg-Zeeland Tuesday night at the Jamestown Civic Center, earning them a spot in the championship game with Kidder County.

Kidder Co. boys 1 win away

Kidder Co. boys 1 win away The Kidder County Pirates are one game away from the state Class B basketball tournament. No. Not those Kidder County Pirates. It’s finally the Paul Olson-coached boys’ team’s turn in the spotlight. A 9-0 run by Kidder County to end the third period was too much for the Napoleon Imperials to overcome during Tuesday’s Region 3 semifinal match-up at the Jamestown Civic Center. The Pirates’ Norm Nicholson, Wes Nicholson and Mike Kalianoff all hit double digits in scoring, led by Norm Nicholson’s 13, and the Pirates advanced to the state’s Sweet 16 with a 53-39 victory over the Imperials.

Region 3 tournament: LaMoure knocks off Linton, 59-45

Region 3 tournament: LaMoure knocks off Linton, 59-45 The Linton Lions entered the Region 3 tournament as the obvious favorites to represent the region at the state tournament. Linton held its position atop the Class B state polls throughout the entire year and went until the final two games of the regular season without a single blemish. But nobody must have told the LaMoure Loboes as they knocked off the Lions 59-45 Monday night at the Jamestown Civic Center.

Kidder Co. avoids tournament sweep

Dropping a pair of state tournament games by a combined 3 points was a bitter pill to swallow for the defending state champion Kidder County Pirates. High hopes were in turn exchanged for heartbreak following a 60-59 loss to Standing Rock in the first round of the state Class B girls’ basketball tournament Thursday, and falling 53-51 to Kenmare the following day was just salt in the wound.
