West’s best Century defeats Jamestown

JHS star notches 15th career win

JHS star notches 15th career win Laura Kraft has made some good high school memories strolling the fairways at Minot Country Club. Two years ago, the Jamestown standout claimed her first state title at MCC and on Monday she made yet another memory at the Minot Invitational. Kraft went 5-under on her last 17 holes to finish with a 3-under 69 — the season’s first sub-70 round — to claim her third individual title of the year.

West Fargo, Shanley top first Class AAA, AA polls

West Fargo and Fargo Shanley top the first Class AAA and AA football polls of the season. The Packers opened the season on Friday with a 6-0 win over Bismarck and got seven of the 12 first-place votes as a result.

Allmer picks up win for Jays

It took Alison Allmer just two meets to get win No. 1 of the season. The Jamestown High School sophomore, ranked fifth in the state, ran out to an early lead and won the R.M. Stoudt Invitational at Pipestem by 27 seconds on Saturday.

Hart, Lukach start fast

Erin Hart and Brooke Lukach wasted no time getting in the win column in 2010. Hart swept the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke, while Lukach was sharp in her opening outing on the diving board to lead the Blue Jays at the season-opening Spartan Invite at the Fargo North pool on Saturday. Coach Marney Shirley was happy with her team’s seventh-place finish, which included 215 points in the 9-team meet.

The Jamestown JV football team was faced with a tough challenge immediately out of the gates Tuesday night in Fargo. The Blue Jays faced a 12-0 deficit entering the final quarter against Fargo North but a fourth quarter rally put Jamestown in the driver’s seat with just eight seconds remaining in the game.

The Jamestown High School doubles teams combined for seven wins to lead the Blue Jays at the Minot Round Robin Tournament on Saturday. The Blue Jays totaled 12 wins on the day, placing fourth in the 7-team field.
