Vikings’ Rice will miss at least six games

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Brett Favre completed one pass and also got clobbered on a sack that lost Minnesota 10 yards.
Favre’s highly anticipated first game back with the Vikings lasted all of four unspectacular plays and one series in a 15-10 loss to the 49ers in a nationally televised preseason game Sunday at Candlestick Park, the only NFL show of the night.

Harvin suffers migraine attack
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Percy Harvin experienced the scariest episode yet in a career plagued by migraine headaches when he collapsed at Minnesota Vikings’ practice Thursday and was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
Coach Brad Childress left team headquarters after practice and spent the rest of the afternoon at the hospital with Harvin, who also got visits from other coaches and teammates.

Last we saw the 40-year-old quarterback in action, he was barely able to walk off the Superdome turf, his body aching from the beating the New Orleans Saints delivered in January’s NFC title game.

Finally official? Favre parachutes in
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Brett Favre is back in Minnesota, right on schedule.
For the second year in a row, the quarterback who spends his summers on the verge of retirement was driven to Vikings headquarters on the Tuesday following the team’s first preseason game. Just like last August, news helicopters followed his vehicle from a local airport and dozens of fans and media gathered at the entrance to Winter Park to greet him.

Vikings’ stars still missing
MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings held their final public practice on another hot, humid morning Thursday, giving the fans some free entertainment in the form of a high-intensity workout with a brief scuffle.
Of course, the shoving and shouting between running back Toby Gerhart and defensive end Ray Edwards, followed by a spirited knock-it-off confrontation of Edwards by defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, didn’t answer any of the big questions marks surrounding the defending NFC North champions.
