The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has scheduled one-day winter workshops for woman on Feb. 25, 26 and 27 at Lake Metigoshe State Park near Bottineau. The programs are intended to help women develop outdoor skills by offering a variety of classes highlighting different skills.
Longtime North Dakota Game and Fish Department division chief Mike McKenna retired at the end of September after a 31-year career with the agency.
An Iowa native, McKenna earned a master’s degree from the University of North Dakota and started his Game and Fish career as a natural resources coordinator in 1979.
While two consecutive severe winters played a significant role in reducing the state’s bighorn sheep population, overall numbers are still strong, according to Brett Wiedmann, big game biologist for the North Dakota Game and Fish Department in Dickinson.
