The Buffalo Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross held its sixth annual “Heroes Night” April 12 at the Gladstone Inn & Suites in Jamestown. The event raises funds for Red Cross disaster relief and honors “heroes” in the community.
Proponents of a proposed lettuce-growing operation for Jamestown will promote their project at the annual Home and Garden Show this weekend.
The show, organized by the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce, runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Jamestown Civic Center, 212 Third Ave. SW. There is room for 86 vendors on the floor of the civic center and an area for seminars.

More than 1,200 runners have registered for the Wild Hog Half Marathon in Grand Forks at the end of this month, far exceeding organizers’ expectations.
“We were hoping for 800 participants,” said Rachel Hellyer, a race organizer. “It’s a nice surprise.”

All things Jamestown were out downtown Thursday at the College Community Connection Block Party.
“It’s fun, it’s really cool that all these businesses and people are down here,” said Josh Knutson, a freshman from Milnor, N.D. “It’s just fun.”
This year there were 95 booths and more than 3,000 people milling about First Avenue South to welcome to the new students to Jamestown.
For the fifth year in a row the city of Jamestown will welcome incoming Jamestown College students today to the place many will call home for the next four years or more. It’s a great opportunity to let those students know what Jamestown has for them and it’s also a great opportunity for residents to make them feel welcome.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the city of Fargo and River Keepers will host a celebration at 10 a.m. today at the Hickson Dam in recognition of the modifications to the Christine and Hickson dams.
The Stutsman County Memorial Museum conducted its annual Ice Cream Social on Sunday.
Ice cream and a variety of cakes were provided by the members of the board of directors. Root beer, Coke and orange floats were also provided; they have become a new addition to the traditional fare.
