Fast-pitch diamond gets name
Once work is completed on ball diamond No. 11 at McElroy Park later this month, the diamond will be named in honor of Lyle “Trapper” Lawrence. The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously approved a request made on behalf of Lawrence’s family by Darin Peterson to allow the family to name the ball diamond in honor of Lawrence, in exchange for a $15,000 donation. Parks and Recreation approves pay increase
The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Commission approved a 25 percent pay increase for seasonal maintenance workers Monday at its monthly meeting. The commission increased the hourly rate from $8 to $10 to bring in better qualified applicants.
