Randall tops list: Barton, Stemen, Roemmich, Moser on first team
Just how hard is it to score 2,190 career points in high school boys’ basketball?
According to the Hoopster, only 16 players in the history of North Dakota boys’ prep ball have scored more career points than Kidder County’s Adam Randall, and there’s never been a 2,000 career point scorer in the Class A ranks — Valley City’s Jeff Boschee came up 6 points short (1,994).

Blue Jay boys win, girls second
Ken Gardner and Arnie Falk had not planned on taking their teams to Devils Lake on Saturday, but the last-minute trip proved well worth it.

Carrington cruises into ‘B’ semifinals
Former Carrington Cardinal standout Jim Kleinsasser’s pep talk on Wednesday couldn’t have worked out any better for the Cards in the opening round of the state Class B boys’ basketball tournament on Thursday.
Competing in the school’s first state tournament since Kleinsasser and the Cardinals rolled to a state championship in 1995 over Grenora, Carrington inched closer to a second state title with a 62-54 win over Mandaree.

It’s a feeling long past due for Kidder County boys’ basketball coach Paul Olson, but the wait is finally over.
The Pirates, for the first time since 1991, have extended their season to the state’s big dance in Minot. Olson was part of the 1991 fourth-place finishing Kidder County team — then referred to as Steele-Dawson — as an assistant, but this marks the first time the Pirates advanced to the state tournament under Olson as a head coach.

Bismarck Century ended two decades of frustration, claiming the North Dakota girls Class A basketball title on Saturday night with a 60-50 win over Fargo South.
The Patriots claimed their first state title since 1990. Alexis Jacobs scored 20 points and the Patriots (23-2) went on a 16-0 run in the second half, turning a 35-32 deficit into a 48-35 lead.

Top-ranked North Star and seventh-ranked Carrington will square off for the Region 5 title Thursday night in Devils Lake.
The Cardinals advanced with a 57-45 win over Starkweather-Munich. Tied 14-all after eight minutes, Carrington took a 28-22 lead into the break and led the rest of the way.
