The latest flood forecast from the National Weather Service indicates a higher probability of flooding on the James River and Pipestem Creek this spring. The forecast was issued this morning and does indicate “at least some minor flooding is a near certainty in all basins and the probability of major flooding is substantial.”
The North Dakota Department of Transportation and the North Dakota Highway Patrol have issued a no-Travel Advisory for all state highways in south-central North Dakota due to heavy snow, reduced visibility and icy conditions. Cities included in the advisory include Jamestown, Valley City, Edgeley, Ellendale, Pingree, Underwood, Steele, Glen Ullin, Napoleon, Linton, Flasher and surrounding areas.
A winter storm warning has been declared across much of North Dakota, including the entirety of The Jamestown Sun’s readership area, according to the National Weather Service. Blizzard conditions are possible on Christmas Day and Saturday.
The North Dakota Department of Emergency Services warns area residents that North Dakota Highway 1 at Oakes in Dickey County is temporarily blocked off until further notice. Traffic is being detoured due to a fire at Fuel & Service in Oakes.
