Bill for bullying: Bill would require districts to have bullying policies
Reactions to an anti-bullying bill are mostly in favor across the state. The bill (HB 1147) requires school districts to develop a policy prohibiting bullying of one student by another. The bill is one of about three like it being tossed around in the North Dakota House and Senate. In HB 1147, “bullying” is defined as physical acts, verbal utterances and written and electronic communication used to cause fear or detriment to a student’s physical and mental health or academic performance.January 15, 2011

Letter to the editor: Haut should get an apology and her job back
I am a Stutsman County Social Services success story because of Margo Haut. I spent most of my life afraid of social services because my abuser told me not to trust them, and that they would harm, not help us. It took the care, attention, dedication and personal sacrifice of two social service workers who routinely exceeded their job description to show me how wrong he was!By Mary Joy Wadkins , January 12, 2011

I have been watching the bullying concerns expressed by Margo Haut and watching the Jamestown Public School Board’s reaction to it. I was totally surprised by the article in The Sun, announcing Haut’s position had been terminated. It’s good to see policy to curtail bullying
It’s good to see the special committee formed by the Jamestown Public School Board moving forward on a policy directed at preventing bullying in the district’s schools. Although the School Board has had a policy, the district has not. It’s encouraging to see the committee only a couple of weeks away from presenting the board with a draft policy.December 09, 2010
