The Jamestown College volleyball team has waited a long time, but once again they will have a shot at a Dakota Athletic Conference tournament title and a trip to the NAIA national tournament.
The Jimmies swept South Dakota Mines 25-15, 25-21, 25-14 on Wednesday night in the semifinals of the conference postseason tournament. For the second straight year, the Jimmies will have the home-court advantage at the Hansen Center as they try to earn a trip to nationals.

Elks prevail
The Jamestown Elks proved they could dig themselves out of a hole this weekend.
After losing their opener on Friday, the Elks reeled off four straight wins, including two on Sunday, to claim their first Class AAA state amateur tournament championship since 2005.
The Elks swept the three-time defending AAA champion Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants on a windy, but otherwise pleasant day at Jack Brown Stadium, overcoming an early 3-0 deficit en route to a 10-6 win in the clincher. They won the first game 6-0 behind a dynamic performance on the mound and at the plate from Erik Scott.

Kraft finishes one stroke off cut at Junior PGA
Considering the competition and the course, Laura Kraft was very pleased with her week in Ohio.
Despite missing the cut at the prestigious 34th annual PGA Junior Championship by just one shot, the soon-to-be Jamestown High School junior proved once again she can play with the best youth golfers in the country.
Kraft finished just one shot out of the top 30 in the 75-player field, posting a three-round total of 235 after her 81 on Thursday at challenging TPC River’s Bend in Maineville, Ohio. Kraft recorded rounds of 76, 78 and 81 on the robust 6,407-yard course, which carries a rating of 77.3 and slope of 144.

Kraft vying to make cut at Junior PGA
Laura Kraft is one solid round away from making the cut at the 34th Junior PGA Championship.
The Jamestown High School junior-to-be shot a 78 on Wednesday in the second round of the tournament at TPC River’s Bend in Maineville, Ohio. Kraft carded a 4-over par 76 on Monday for a two-round total of 154 and is in a three-way tie for 27th.
