Commission declares an emergency
The Stutsman County Commission issued an emergency declaration during a special meeting Thursday. The declaration cites heavy rain in the northern portion of the county occurring after the end of the previous presidential disaster declaration on July 20. Tornado sirens are expected to be sounded today as part of statewide exercise, according to Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist. The blog is titled “Stutsman Emergency Management: Are You Prepared?” and can be found at the website areyouprepared.areavoices.com. FARGO (AP) — An emergency notification system used heavily during the 2009 spring flood in the Fargo-Moorhead area is expanded to include other weather disasters. Residents of North Dakota’s Cass County and Minnesota’s Clay County who sign up for the “Code Reds” will be alerted by a prerecorded phone message if there’s a tornado.
