The first win was a long time in coming.
Eight days after Post 14 opened the season with a pair of losses at Grand Forks, Jamestown headed back to Kraft Field and got in the win column.
Post 14 split a pair of games at the Grand Forks tournament. Ben Walker and Ross Hogan combined on a two-hitter in a 6-4 victory over Fergus Falls (Minn.) in the tournament opener on Friday. Post 14 lost their second game of the day as the Regina (Sask.) A’s strung together 15 hits, most of them singles, in a 12-6 victory.

A Grand Forks man must serve 30 months in prison for robbing a bank.
Kelly Murphy had earlier pleaded guilty in federal court to robbing Bremer Bank in Grand Forks on March 30, 2007. Authorities say he got away with about $1,700.
A few weeks ago, Alex Kreis helped Jamestown College reach the NAIA World Series.
On Thursday night, he helped the Grand Forks Royals open the American Legion baseball season with a sweep of Jamestown.
Kreis hit a three-run homer and tossed a five-hitter in the opener as Grand Forks picked up a 7-2 win in the first game. Ryan Anderson’s one-hit shutout in the second game gave the Royals a sweep with a 14-0, five-inning decision.

The Army Corps of Engineers is re-caulking some of the seams between concrete flood panels in the Grand Forks dike system after spotting a few cracks.
Corps project manager Bonnie Greenleaf calls it routine maintenance and no reason for alarm.
A Fargo-based real estate development group has completed one of the largest land purchases in recent memory in this city and plans to be a force in the city’s growth for years to come.
The Marcil Group has bought about 568 acres of undeveloped land on the city’s south side from Greenberg Family Consolidated Limited Partnership. Marcil Group Chief Executive Officer Mike Marcil did not disclose the purchase price for the land, which amounts to just under 1 square mile.
