These are the plungers who participated in Special Olympics North Dakota’s Law Enforcement Torch Run 3rd Annual Polar Plunge, conducted by local law enforcement volunteers in Jamestown on Feb. 14.
The Jamestown Music Boosters are hosting a Valentine’s Dinner Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Nafus Center on the Jamestown College campus.
The theme of the fundraising dinner is Lights! Camera! Music! and begins with a social at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6. The menu for the social, which is being sponsored by the Chora-laires, is a meat and cheese appetizer with crackers, vegetables and dip and specialty golden punch.
Jamestown Hospital Foundation garnered $17,224 from the 10th Annual Breakfast with Santa Event held on Nov. 22 at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
The money was used to purchase a portable DVD player and movies for children in rehab who have to sit in the whirlpool for long periods of time.
A state fund that helps North Dakota ethanol plants is expected to run out of money this month.
Ethanol producers can tap into the fund when corn prices are high. Randy Schneider, president of the North Dakota Ethanol Producers Association, said that’s what happened in the third quarter of the year when corn sold for nearly $6 a bushel.
This weekend the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 760 and Ladies Auxiliary are holding their annual Buddy Poppy days in Jamestown. Volunteers will be distributing poppies and accepting donations from noon to 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Hugo’s, County Market and Buffalo Mall.
