Humane Society to hold fundraiser
The James River Humane Society is holding a potato bar/raffle at the Knights of Columbus Hall from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday. A $10 ticket will get a ticket holder into the potato bar and into the cash raffle drawings of $200 $125, $75, $50 and $25. The National Honor Society at Jamestown High School is hosting the Daffodil Days fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Today is the last day to place an order. Dollars raised by the event will be used to help the American Cancer Society continue its funding of cancer research, its state and national legislative advocacy, and its educational and patient service programs. This year alone, The American Cancer Society will invest approximately $120 million in cancer research nationwide; $3.2 billion has been invested since the research program began in 1946.February 17, 2010
