Road 'trade': Cleveland, Gackle residents want state to take section of road near N.D. Highway 56
The Stutsman County Commission received a petition signed by about 90 residents of the Cleveland and Gackle area during its regular meeting Tuesday. The petition asks the county to trade a section of county road for a segment of state highway elsewhere in the county. “The county would take over 17 to 18 miles of state road elsewhere,” said Elmer Retzer, petition drive organizer. “And the segment of county road between Gackle and Cleveland would become part of State Highway 56.”By Keith Norman , May 05, 2010
Highway 52 project to start
The dowel bar retrofit, grinding and concrete pavement restoration project on U.S. Highway 52, or Mill Hill will start on May 17. The work will primarily consist of activities that would result in a smoother vehicle ride and longer life from the existing pavement. Letter to the editor: Highway won’t be less well-traveled with gravel
I am upset but not surprised by the “going backward” decision to recycle Stutsman County Road 40 (Old Highway 10, east between Jamestown and Spiritwood) back to gravel, a road that spanned across North Dakota since 1921. Why is a road that is traveled as much as that stretch in such poor condition that only recycling back to gravel is the answer? Neglect comes to mind.By Laurie Mosolf , March 09, 2010

U.S. Highway 83 section reopens
U.S. Highway 83 between Washburn and Underwood reopened Wednesday morning, after being closed for about a day so large coal-mining equipment could cross the four-lane road. The 13.5 million pound dragline at the Falkirk Mining Co. moves at a speed of less than 1 mph. Dragline crossings also were made in 2003 and twice in 1987.January 28, 2010
Correction: Highway 36 a state highway in N.D.
A story on roads on page A1 in Wednesday’s Sun incorrectly identified Highway 36 as a county road. Highway 36 is a North Dakota state highway. Also, Chris Wingire did not say he was concerned about Highway 36. Wingire expressed concerns that the portion of County Road 68 that is north of Woodworth and County Road 44 was on the list of highways in the county that might be recycled to gravel in the future.January 21, 2010
