Legislators decide they deserve pay raise
During the next session of the North Dakota Legislature, lawmakers likely will be making more than $1,000 a week. North Dakota’s House has approved a bill that raises lawmakers’ daily pay for regular legislative sessions and attending interim committee meetings. The measure now goes to Gov. John Hoeven. It boosts the daily pay of lawmakers from $135 to $141 on July 1, and to $148 daily on July 1, 2010.April 30, 2009

Property-income tax bill may be final in North Dakota Legislature
North Dakota property tax payers would get $295 million in collective relief in a bill finalized Monday that also includes personal income tax cut of $90 million and trims corporate income taxes by $10 million. N.D.’s per capita personal income up 9 percent
The state Commerce Department says North Dakota’s per-capita personal income rose 9 percent last year, to about $39,000. The department said preliminary federal estimates show it was the country’s largest percentage gain in per-capita personal income for the year.April 14, 2009

N.D. property tax relief certificates have expiration date
North Dakota Tax Commissioner Cory Fong said Tuesday that taxpayers who filed for property tax relief and received a Property Tax Relief Certificate must redeem the certificate before the expiration date. "Many North Dakota property owners received a Property Tax Relief Certificate from the Tax Department earlier this year when they claimed the property tax credit on their state income tax return," said Fong.
