The Jamestown Regional Airport Authority paid off the loan it had backed last year to cover the losses by the Jamestown AirFest. The air show was part of the Jamestown 125th Anniversary Celebration last June and was postponed for one day due to weather.
“We used an airport savings account that had been used as collateral for the loan to pay it off,” said Andrew Schneider, airport manager. “We ended up covering $58,738 of the loss of the air show.”
Student loan borrowers who have been affected by the flooding disasters in North Dakota may be finding it difficult to make their monthly payments at this time. Student Loans of North Dakota, North Dakota’s student loan guaranty agency for more than 25 years, wants students severely affected by the recent weather events to know that help is available.
Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring, who just joined the Bank of North Dakota’s board of directors, says he owes the bank $14,094 for a loan he used to invest in an ethanol factory.
Goehring became a director of the state-owned bank two weeks ago when Gov. John Hoeven appointed him to succeed Roger Johnson as agriculture commissioner. Goehring attended his first meeting last week.

The federal government is backing a $300 million loan for Basin Electric Power Cooperative to capture carbon dioxide at the company’s coal-fired power plant in central North Dakota.
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer said it’s first commercial-scale carbon sequestration project at an existing coal-fired power plant.
The USDA says the carbon dioxide will be cleaned, pressurized and moved by pipeline to oil fields, then injected into oil-bearing formations below ground to help recover more oil.

The Jamestown Regional Airport Authority agreed to serve as a backer of a loan of $75,000 to the Air Fest Committee to cover loses during the recent air show at a special board meeting Wednesday night. The money will allow all creditors of the Air Fest to be paid now with the hopes that funds to repay the loan can be gathered from a variety of sources in and out of the community.
