Someone who bought a Powerball ticket in South Carolina is a whole lot richer.
The single winning ticket for Wednesday’s $259.9 million drawing was sold at a gas station and convenience store next to a Wal-Mart in Columbia.
South Carolina Education Lottery spokeswoman Stephanie Hemminghaus said no one came forward Thursday to claim the prize.

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota Lottery's executive director, Norm Lingle, says stronger-than-expected sales have prompted the Multi-State Lottery Association to increase the Powerball jackpot estimate for the Wednesday drawing to $250 million, up from $245 million.

North Dakota’s lottery director says Powerball players will have a chance to win more money starting this week.
Officials said the average Powerball jackpot is increasing from $95.5 million to $141 million. They estimate that will mean 3 million more prizes each year. The starting jackpots will increase from $15 million to $20 million.
