Registration continues for the 2008 Prairie Rose State Games will be held July 11-13 in Minot.
There are 37 activities open for participants. Deadline to register for some of the team sports is June 27.
The seventh annual Prairie Day event will be Saturday at Chase Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Stutsman County. People will be able to experience the mixed-grass prairie and North Dakota’s prairie pothole country.

Charles Bowden gave the keynote speech Monday at a summer geography institute at Bismarck State College and spoke with reporters.
Bowden’s article, which ran in National Geographic Magazine in January, drew editorials and strong criticism from North Dakota officials. A letter from Gov. John Hoeven said the story was “way off the mark.”
Bowden said the article was misunderstood, and he took on some of his critics Monday.
Prairie Rose Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday. The program will be a tour of Country Gardens. The club will meet there at 7 p.m. for a tour of the plants, greenhouse and main building. Gretchen Barnick will also have a short presentation.
The 88th annual camp meeting at the historic tabernacle on the grounds of Prairie Bible Camp in Lehr, N.D., will begin on Sunday evening with nightly services and conclude with the Sunday morning worship service and a noon meal on June 15.
Prairie Day 2008 is from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 21, at Chase Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Chase Lake Pass (follow signs). Prairie Day is a free, family educational event of The North Dakota Chapter of The Wildlife Society.

A treasured friendship, a grandfather’s struggle with Alzheimer’s, a dinosaur adventure and a spiritual journey are the subjects of the four stories that have been promoted to the national “Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest.” Prairie Public sponsored the annual writing contest, which encourages, rewards, and challenges children to create stories with their own words and illustrations.
The Jewels of the Prairie met at the Arts Center in James-town on Jan. 8 and participated in a demonstration of “Yoga for Seniors” by Sherry Schutt. They learned that yoga is for everyone and practiced several poses and moves to start the year with a look to keeping healthy through movement.
