Bode falls short in bid for history
Carlo Janka of Switzerland added the Olympic gold medal to his world championship in giant slalom on Tuesday, while Bode Miller failed to finish in his bid for a record fourth men’s Alpine medal.
The 23-year-old Janka led after the first run and had a combined two-leg time of 2 minutes, 37.83 seconds.

Olympic roundup: Lysacek wins gold medal
Evan Lysacek has won the men’s figure skating gold medal at the Vancouver Olympics, upsetting defending champion Evgeni Plushenko.
Daisuke Takahashi of Japan won the bronze Thursday night.
Lysacek’s flawless, if somewhat conservative, performance earned him the first U.S. men’s gold since Brian Boitano in 1988. Plushenko, trying to become the first repeat men’s gold medalist since Dick Button in 1952, couldn’t top him. Some sloppy landings on jumps and one weak spin were enough to drop him to silver.

Cross-country skis and a dog lead to skijor
There’s a lot of cures for cabin fever during a long winter. Some are more creative than others. Skijoring probably falls in the more creative category. It’s an activity that involves a person, a set of cross-country skis and a dog that would rather play than stay.
Molly Patton moved to Minot more than a year ago from Fairbanks, Alaska, with her dog, Daisy, and a fondness for skijoring. To her surprise, in a Northern climate state where snow is often overabundant, she has yet to discover any fellow skijorers.
