Napoleon, Ellendale to meet for Stutsman title
The Napoleon Imperials and the Ellendale Cardinals will once again meet up to decide who’ll be the champions of the Stutsman County girls’ basketball tournament today at 6:30 p.m. at the Jamestown Civic Center.
Napoleon was able to get past South Border 64-36 in Friday’s semifinal action, while Ellendale defeated Midkota 42-34. The Imperials defeated the Cardinals 57-44 in last year’s title game.

Top seeds win: No. 4 Imperials roll in opener
The top seeds prevailed during the opening night of the Stutsman County Girls’ Basketball Tournament on Thursday at the Jamestown Civic Center.
No. 1-seeded Napoleon brushed aside Central Prairie 80-31, and No. 4-seeded South Border got past Edgeley-Kulm 53-27.
In the night games, No. 2-seeded Ellendale defeated LaMoure 42-21, while No. 3-seeded Midkota just escaped Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal 55-52.

Par for the course: Seeds hold on opening day of Stutsman
The opening night of the 2010 Class B boys’ Stutsman County Tournament has come and gone, and according to the seeding there were no surprises at the Jamestown Civic Center on Thursday night.
Top-seeded LaMoure rolled past Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal 63-32 in the first quarterfinal of the evening, and then it was fourth-seeded and two-time defending champion Central Prairie’s turn with a 65-55 win over Edgeley-Kulm.
In the night bracket, No. 2-seeded Ellendale skated past Midkota 61-40, and No. 3-seeded Carrington wrapped up Day 1 with a 54-37 win over Kidder County.

Bull-A-Rama has large economic impact here
The Jamestown Civic Center plays host to 80 bull riders and up to 8,000 spectators during the two-day Bull-A-Rama this weekend. The event is in its 29th year.
“People look forward to it year after year because it is run well and Jamestown is hospitable,” said Nina Sneider, executive director of Buffalo City Tourism. “It is a unique indoor event for Jamestown.”

Marina moved to new location; Concession stand, other buildings also relocated to deter flooding

Schwartz picked: Retired farmer named to County Commission
David Schwartz, a retired farmer from the Spiritwood Lake area, was appointed to the Stutsman County Commission during a special meeting Thursday. Schwartz will fill the last two years of the term of Doug Kaiser, who died in late September. He takes office as soon as he signs his oath of office sometime in the next few days.
