Alltel Wireless subscribers in portions of North Dakota, including Jamestown, will continue to receive Alltel’s service as North Dakota was not included in the company’s recent sale to Verizon Wireless.
Verizon Wireless is now open after a vehicle crashed into its building Friday.
The office closed because the accident broke a window, bowed the wall and left the foundation unstable, said Levi Serfoss, manager at Cellular Communications.

Verizon Wireless has offered to sell cellular operations in North Dakota, South Dakota and parts of 16 other states to win regulatory approval of its proposed purchase of Alltel Corp.
In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission, Verizon said after preliminary discussions with the Justice Department, it is committed to divesting overlapping spectrum, operations and other assets in 85 markets, mostly in the Midwest, West and Southeast.

Verizon Wireless’ proposed acquisition of Alltel Corp. would create a virtual cell phone monopoly in North Dakota, and regulators should take steps to safeguard against that, state officials say.
North Dakota customers have almost 428,000 cell phones, and Verizon and Alltel serve the vast majority of them, Public Service Commissioner Tony Clark said. Should the deal be consummated, Verizon may be required to sell some of its new North Dakota holdings, Clark said.
