North Dakota legislators distrust some pharmacy bill e-mails

State senators are being bombarded by hundreds of identical e-mails from people urging them to vote for the pharmacy ownership bill. The thing is, the bill isn’t even in the Senate and may never get there. That’s one of several factors that have made some lawmakers distrustful of the onslaught, they said.

Letter to the editor: Repeal current pharmacy law in North Dakota

I am a pharmacist and a consumer who is supporting the repeal of the pharmacy ownership law. As a consumer, I am offended that the Board of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the North Dakota Pharmacist Association, has for 45 years dictated where I can purchase my pharmacy services. They have successfully limited everyone in the state from choosing any new corporate-owned pharmacy services provider. As a pharmacist, I have been denied professional opportunities that the expansion of new corporate pharmacies might have provided.

Wal-Mart to start selling Apple’s iPhone

Wal-Mart will start selling Apple’s popular iPhone on Sunday, the chain said, confirming earlier reports by employees. Bentonville-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will become the second independent retail chain after Best Buy Inc. to sell the phone. It is also sold at Apple Inc. and AT&T Inc. stores.

Letter to the editor: Wal-Mart’s presence is a threat to local businesses

In response to and agreement with Logan C. Adams’ column, I am afraid Jamestown will go the route of all the small towns we used to see driving south into Texas. The wonderful little small businesses, mom-and-pop stores, cafes with home-cooked meals all disappeared into the dust and left towns lifeless and empty. We usually encountered a Wal-Mart in the area, which probably caused their sad demise.

While I was walking Wednesday through the new Wal-Mart Supercenter in Jamestown, I felt both amazement and fear as I looked over the products and prices. Amazement at all the things that I could buy in one place, fear for any local businesses that don’t realize quickly that they are in serious trouble.
