Blue Jays hoping for strong showing

Jays win opener
It was a gut reaction by Tyler Ukestad, but it meant everything to the Jamestown High School baseball team on Thursday night.
Ukestad hurdled Mandan catcher Trever Leingang on his way to scoring his team’s second run during a four-run fourth inning. Landon Weiser followed with a two-run single as the third-seeded Blue Jays topped sixth-seeded Mandan 4-1 in the opening round of the West Region tournament at Veterans Memorial Ballpark.

Eslick gets JHS job: New wrestling coach excited to get started
Larry Eslick set his career goals “six or seven years ago” and on Monday night, he knocked another out.
The Great Falls, Mont., native was named head wrestling coach at Jamestown High School at a school board meeting at the Jamestown Middle School. He’s been an assistant to longtime coach Greg White for the past 13 years.

Jays third at Tom O’ Frosh fifth on Rene day in Bismarck
Wet, soggy conditions didn’t prevent the Blue Jays from their best meet of the season on Monday.
With Apple Creek in Bismarck unplayable, the West Region played Tom O’Leary for the second time and Jamestown finished with a season-low 307 and a third-place finish.
