Allmer on the run: Sophomore Alison Allmer leads the Blue Jays into state
Jamestown’s Alison Allmer can often be spotted trotting along the streets of Jamestown. But on Saturday, the sophomore runner will be navigating the hills of Hillcrest Golf Course while competing in the state Class A girls’ cross country meet — her fourth straight time competing at the state’s most prominent high school cross country meet.
“I’m pretty excited,” she said. “I’m proud of how I’ve been doing (this year). It’s better than I was expecting.”

The sophomore cross country runner already has a laundry list of accomplishments, but on Saturday she finished higher than any other Blue Jays girls runner had ever finished at the West Region Championships.

Leader of the pack
Katie Conlon keeps making a tough sport look too easy.
The Jamestown College junior pulled away from one of the top runners in Division III midway through the Jimmie Invite and sailed to another victory on Friday afternoon at sunny, but cool Hillcrest Golf Course.
Conlon, who cut nearly a minute off her time from the same meet last season, beat Linda Keller of Minnesota-Morris by 21 seconds, 18:10 to 18:31.

Blue Jays run in deep Fergus meet
The Jamestown High School cross country team ran into some stiff competition in Fergus Falls on Thursday.
Several of the top teams from west central Minnesota were at Pebble Lake Golf Course, site of their sectional meet later this month.
Alison Allmer finished 11th to lead the JHS teams as usual. No Blue Jay boys crossed higher than 49th. The meet featured 20 teams and both races had more than 140 runners.
