It’s still going to be a while before Travis Hafner can get back into the Cleveland Indians’ lineup.
The Sykeston native reported some improvement this week as he tries to strengthen his injured right shoulder, but the Indians will be without their designated hitter for a while longer.
Indians designated hitter Travis Hafner was advised by orthopedist Dr. James Andrews to continue with a strengthening program for his ailing right shoulder.
“Dr. Andrews was very straight forward,” Indians head trainer Lonnie Soloff said. “He didn’t think surgery would help his condition. He is doing isometric exercises, stability exercises, lifting weights.”
Cleveland Indians designated hitter Travis Hafner is getting a second opinion on his sore right shoulder. He traveled to Birmingham, Ala., on Wednesday to be evaluated by renowned orthopedist Dr. James Andrews.
The Cleveland Indians may be without Pronk a little while longer.
Travis Hafner has been on the disabled list with a sore right shoulder since May 30. The Sykeston native is eligible to come off the DL soon, but as of now there’s no timetable for his return to the lineup.
Manager Eric Wedge said on Tuesday that Hafner was still at least a week away from starting a minor-league rehab assignment.
Cleveland designated hitter Travis Hafner, after taking a few practice swings, was sent home Friday and will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right shoulder.
Hafner, a Sykeston native, who is hitting only .217 with four home runs, has been bothered by the shoulder since spring training. He hasn’t played since Sunday.
