N.D. committee recommends 19.6 percent budget increase
College affordability, technology investments and facility repairs are emphasized in a budget proposal for the North Dakota University System. A committee of the State Board of Higher Education took the first step Monday in forming a legislative budget request for the 2011-13 biennium. The Budget, Audit and Finance Committee recommended a $95.9 percent increase in base funding for the university system, or 19.6 percent. Future budget proposals for North Dakota’s university system will include financial incentives for colleges that meet new achievement benchmarks being drawn up by the Board of Higher Education, two members said Tuesday. Higher ed enrollment up again
Enrollment numbers for North Dakota’s college and university campuses confirm that the University System is an education and financial bargain. Campuses large and small posted nice gains for the spring semester, according to reports released last week. North Dakota State University continued to occupy the top spot for student numbers with 13,411 students a record. Other views: Smoking ban just a suggestion
It’s been a while coming, but North Dakota State University has taken a small step to a smoke-free campus. President Richard Hanson signed a new smoking policy that was recommended to him by the University Senate.
