Herbert receives humanitarian award

Dana (Poseley) Herbert, Hanover, Md., daughter of the late Robert and Myrtle Poseley of Jamestown, recently received the prestigious Fannie Lou Hamer Humanitarian Award at ceremonies held Oct. 2 at St. John’s College in Annapolis, Md. Fannie Lou Hamer was a feminist and civil rights activist who gave a speech at the 1964 National Democratic Convention addressing voting rights of African Americans.

Lindberg wins ‘Best Warrior’

Spc. Ryan Lindberg of Jamestown earned top marks in the National Guard Best Warrior Competition recently. Approximately 300,000 Army National Guard soldiers competed in the event at Fort Benning, Ga., with separate categories for enlisted guards and noncommissioned officers.

Zvirovski receives gardening honor
