Other views: Election is over, time to move on
The ballots are counted (most of them), the campaigns are over and the people have spoken. It’s time to move on. North Dakota doesn’t normally see ugly political races, but the Rick Berg-Earl Pomeroy standoff was unusually muddy. Mostly on TV, the two candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives made each other look like bickering nincompoops rather than congressmen. Still, what’s done is done, and it’s time to move on.By Williston Daily Herald , November 05, 2010
Letter to the editor: Eliminating the estate tax will hurt the middle class
We all dream of being rich one day. That is why so many people who will never be affected by the estate tax — or as some erroneously refer to it, the death tax — favor its repeal. The campaign of Rep. Rick Berg, R-Fargo, to eliminate the estate tax is bad tax policy. Most people simply don’t understand that Berg’s plan to completely eliminate the estate tax would result in a tax increase for 99 percent of North Dakotans. That’s right, it’s a tax increase for the vast majority so that a sliver of people can pass massive estates to their heirs.By Alan Bergman , October 22, 2010

For the eighth month in a row, a new poll by Rasmussen Reports says Republican challenger Rick Berg maintains a slim lead over Democratic-NPL Rep. Earl Pomeroy. However, Berg and Pomeroy remain statistically tied — akin to other political analyses of North Dakota’s U.S. House race and even Pomeroy’s own private polling.By By Kristen M. Daum, Forum Communications Co. , September 24, 2010
Letter to the editor: Berg has been consistent with stances on issues
I’m a little embarrassed for Holly Haugen after her letter to the editor was published in The Jamestown Sun on Sept. 18. She clearly has some egg on her face on this one. She’s completely confused as she’s following the U.S. House race. Let me explain.By Brock Schmeling , September 24, 2010
