Catholic schools official steps down

The superintendent of the Fargo Catholic Schools Network has resigned. Fargo Roman Catholic Diocese spokeswoman Tanya Watterud said Kyle Edgerton stepped down for personal reasons. She declined to elaborate, saying it was a personnel issue.

St. John’s, St. James plan 24-hour prayer

St. John’s Lutheran Church and St. James Basilica will combine tonight for 24 hours of continuous prayer. From 9 p.m. today until 9 a.m. Saturday, the basilica will be host to prayer from anyone who wishes to attend. At 9 a.m., the Jamestown Prayer Quilt will be taken north on First Avenue to St. John’s for another 12 hours of prayer.

Diocese of Fargo plans retreat

The Diocese of Fargo is sponsoring a new event this year, Sacred Heart Family Retreat Camp. This Catholic camp is a 3 1/2-day retreat-style camp for traditional families: mother, father and children between the ages of kindergarten and high school. The camp will be June 24-27 at the Turtle River State Park, located 22 miles west of Grand Forks along Highway 2.

Catholic churches collect for Haiti

Area Catholic churches, including St. James Basilica, will be taking up a second collection during Masses this weekend to help earthquake victims in Haiti. All funds collected will be sent to the Diocese of Fargo and then to Catholic charities, which will use the money to provide in Haiti.
