Blue Jay boys win, girls second
Ken Gardner and Arnie Falk had not planned on taking their teams to Devils Lake on Saturday, but the last-minute trip proved well worth it.
Despite bringing truncated teams, the JHS boys placed first and the girls second at the Gerrells Invite.
Spencer Kamoni picked up a double win to lead the boys to 149 points as the Blue Jays had just 13 athletes in action.

Bismarck Century ended two decades of frustration, claiming the North Dakota girls Class A basketball title on Saturday night with a 60-50 win over Fargo South.

Benz tops list: Kidder Co. star named Miss Basketball
Kidder County, formerly Steele-Dawson, has played in three of the last four girls state Class B basketball tournaments. Eli Benz has been there for all three.
The career highlight for the 5-foot, 11-inch senior forward was leading the Pirates to a 45-43 win over Fordville-Lankin-Park River in the 2008 state championship game. She was named tournament MVP that season.

The Beach Buccaneers lived up to their ranking with a 66-57 win over Central Cass on Saturday in the championship game at the North Dakota girls Class B basketball tournament.
Twenty years after their last appearance at the state tournament, the unbeaten (26-0) and top-ranked Buccaneers added a third championship to their resume.
