It looks like the spring season may finally be starting. The Jamestown High School girls tennis and soccer teams and the Blue Jay softball teams are tentatively scheduled to play for the first time on Thursday.

Jimmies sweep Great Falls, Mayville

The Jimmie women’s bats were banging in Montana on Friday. Following 12 days away from the diamond, the Jimmie softball team apparently kept their sticks insulated from the rash of cold weather locally, rifling off 32 hits and scoring 24 runs in a pair of victories in Great Falls.

Late winter keeps JC athletics on hold

Another week, another round of weather-related cancelations and postponements for Jamestown College. The Jimmie baseball team had their games Tuesday (Dakota Wesleyan) and Wednesday (Minot State) wiped out. The Jimmies, who have won 10 of their last 11 games, hope to play Mayville State (24-2-1) this weekend. Where that happens remains up in the air. It won’t be in Jamestown or Mayville. Tom Hager and Scott Berry are working to find a diamond not covered in snow.

Waiting game: Snow-covered fields could cost Jimmies spring football This week was supposed to mark the beginning of spring practices for the Jimmie football team. While the calendar claimed spring came March 20, much evidence — snow and frozen ground — indicate otherwise. As a result, Shawn Frank’s Jimmies are stuck in a holding pattern and the threat of not having spring ball is a major possibility.

Jimmies split a pair in Iowa

The Jamestown College women’s softball team split a pair of games at the Morningside Invitational being held at the SYA Softball Complex in Sioux City, Iowa on Friday. After leading William Penn University 3-2, the Statesmen scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning off Jimmie ace DJ Johnson and would hold on for the 4-3 victory.

Emily Snow pitched five innings of shutout ball in the second game, and Jamestown College’s offense exploded in the opener as the Jimmies left Moorhead, Minn., with a 16-6, 7-0 sweep of Concordia College on Thursday.
