Don’t underestimate the power of President Barack Obama. This White House administration marks an age of transformation — Obama said so himself. And let’s face it, D.C. is certainly changing.
“The day I’m inaugurated, the country looks at itself differently. And don’t underestimate that power. Don’t underestimate that transformation,” then-senator Barack Obama told the National Urban League two years ago. He was talking about the historic fact that he would be the first black president of the United States, a fact greeted by bipartisan applause.

There’s nothing un-funnier than Saturday night’s jokes reviewed by the caffeinated light of Monday morning.

A quick glance at his new Web site, change.gov, reveals how this works. The word “your” appears a dozen times on the home page, as in this headline: “It’s Your America: Share Your Ideas.” The word “my” doesn’t appear at all.
World leaders launched extraordinary summit talks on the global economic crisis Friday, preparing to adopt a modest action plan that leans more on the U.S. approach of boosting oversight of shaky financial markets than the European desire to increase regulation.
Nearly two dozen leaders from big industrial nations and developing countries came to Washington, with almost as many different plans for action. Diplomatic sources said the leaders were likely to agree to a series of moves, some to be completed by March 31 and others meant for the longer term.

Barack Obama’s campaign has approached Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel about possibly serving as White House chief of staff, officials said Thursday as the marathon presidential race entered its final, frenzied stretch with a Democratic tilt.
The disclosure came as Republican John McCain, in need of a comeback, focused on pocketbook issues amid fresh signs of a recession. “Ohio is hurting now, people in Ohio are having trouble staying in their homes, keeping their jobs,” he said as he set out on a two-day bus tour of the state.
