Williston is not a story of crime
One glance at the Williston Herald in recent weeks makes it look like we live in a city overrun with criminals. Yes, crime has gone up. More people equals more crime, and more crime equals more headlines in the newspaper.By Williston Herald , April 25, 2013

Letter to the editor: Criticism of letter failed to disprove any of its points
This is a response to Tom Tracy’s letter from April 12, in which he responded to my letter regarding this year’s legislative session. He attacked my credibility, but failed to disprove a single thing I said. Just because someone disagrees with what I say does not make it “filled with inaccuracies and misinformation” as Tracy claimed.By By Brad Mills, Jamestown , April 24, 2013
New fund brings questions
Gov. Jack Dalrymple signed House Bill 1278, creating the North Dakota Outdoor Heritage Fund, which will provide as much as $15 million a year by taking a percentage of the gross oil production tax.By Minot Daily News, Minot , April 24, 2013
Put part of oil-tax fund into stocks like Alaska does
A billion here, a billion there. And pretty soon, you’re talking about the Alaska Permanent Fund, which reached a new high of about $45 billion at the end of March. North Dakota may have topped Alaska in oil production, but North Dakota’s oil tax “Legacy Fund” has a long way to go before it catches up with its Alaskan sibling.By Grand Forks Herald , April 23, 2013

Recalibrate Missouri River purpose
Agreed, the strategy behind management of the Missouri River, set by Congress in 1944, needs to be reshaped. But it needs to be done in a balanced and thoughtful way. Four members of the Missouri congressional delegation want to eliminate “fish and wildlife” from the eight purposes laid out to guide the federal government’s management of the river. That kind of unilateral action runs the risk of creating more problems than it solves, and would not fix much of what’s wrong with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers management of the river.By Bismarck Tribune , April 19, 2013
